Which U.S. States Have The Best Climate Year Round?

In a perfect world, the weather would always be agreeable, we wouldn?t get caught in the rain, snowed in or fear a heat stroke. While that is not the reality, there are some places in the states that offer near perfect weather all year round, and when the climate isn?t ideal, even these places don?t have drastic changes in the weather.

CaliforniaLA tops the list, and California has many other cities on the south and central coasts where the weather is pretty great all year round, such as Long Beach, Santa Barbara, Santa Maria and San Diego. It?s never bitter cold, definitely no snow, and rain adds up to about 20 inches per year; the rest of the time, 73%, skies are clear so there?s sunshine. The hottest it gets is about 80 degrees F, but this is rare; it?s usually somewhere in the mid 60s.

HawaiiMaui and Oahu stay around 80 degrees throughout the year with Oahu being a little more agreeable and thus favorable. There?s sunny skies about 70% of the time and only 20 inches of rain.

TexasTexas cities, such as Brownesville, Corpus Christi, Victoria and Del Rio are warm while other states are covered in snow, and in the summer, temperatures can reach the mid 90s. Galveston and Austin, on the other hand, get the coolest usually staying at around a comfortable 61 degrees F or just slightly higher in January, and then it?s around 90 degrees starting in August. Most states get 30 to 40 inches of rain except Del Rio, which only gets around 19 inches. Texas remains sunny an average of 60% of the year.

GeorgiaAccording to the statistics, the entire state of Georgia, and especially Athens, has weather more preferable to most people than Florida, hence its rank on this list. It?s a little cooler in the hotter months and a little warmer in the colder months compared to states that didn?t make the list, which have extreme seasons. Savannah is one of the warmest places in winter in this state as it could reach just above 60 degrees. Other places here reach about 50 degrees in the winter, such as Macon, Atlanta, Augustus and Columbus. Most locales get 45 to 50 inches of rain and sunshine 60 to 66% of the time.

FloridaFlorida offers a lot of places with perfectly warm weather even in the winter, such as Daytona Beach, Orlando, Gainesville, Vero Beach and Tampa. In the summer, the hottest it gets is a little above 90 degrees, and it stays moderately dry with 45 to 50 inches of rain throughout the year. Key West is the most favorable city here. It?s noticeably drier and sunnier with 39 inches of rain and sun 76% of the time.

South CarolinaTropical in some respects and always the possibility of a hurricane, Charleston, SC doesn?t get any colder than about 56 degrees in January, which is one among the three coldest months of the year in the US. The hottest it gets is 89 degrees in July with sunshine 63% of the year. Despite the recent flooding in South Carolina, which has been called a 1 in 1,000 year event, rains usually total a hassle-free 46 inches per year.

DelawareDelaware can get a little cold for some dropping to about 40 degrees in the colder months, but it?s usually in the mid 80s in the summer. This state gets 43 inches of rain a year in the city and slightly more outside of the city.

North CarolinaNorth Carolina doesn?t get too cold, and it?s sunny about 60% of the time all over. Not surpassing the mid 80s in the summer, it?s pretty tolerable here. Kill Devil Hills is a gem here sitting third on the list of cities with the most favorable weather due to its cool breezes and clear skies. Asheville drops to the mid 40s in January but remains cooler than other cities in the summer putting it at number 4 on the list. Cape Hatteras isn?t that bad either and doesn?t get below about 55 degrees F. With 58 inches of rain a year, Cape Hatteras is a little wetter than Asheville, which gets 47 inches.

LouisianaLouisiana completes the list of top states with the best weather year round. While it does get 57 inches of rain a year, more than most other places on the list, it stays above 60 degrees, even in the winter, and reaches up to the 90s in the summer. Lake Charles gets the most sun per year at 72%.

This list is considering the fact that the vast majority don?t want to live in places where it snows a few months out of the year or perhaps has a love for gardening or nature. If you would like to be able to go skiing in your own backyard without getting snowed in, then consider Denver, CO or Prescott, AZ, which have comfortable summer climates.
