In 2017, AtGames launched the Atari Flashback 8 Gold and the Atari Flashback 8 Activision Edition of their retro game consoles. Both delivered with a few amazing features never before released on an Atari Flashback gaming console before. The Wi-Fi wireless joysticks, pause, fastforward, and rewind, as well as HDMI video out were all highly anticipated features, that after we tested the unit, Atari Edge determined the features all worked very well. One feature that has remained at the top of the gamer?s wish list is the addition of an SD card slot for play of downloaded games. This was a feature that was included in both model?s of the Atari Flashback Portable, and fans of Atari Edge listed the SD card slot feature as the top addition they would like to see on future Flashback home consoles. With all of the other features added in last years models, the addition of an SD card slot would make the Atari Flashback consoles almost perfect.
Atari Flashback fans rejoice because it has been announced that the Atari Flashback 9 and the Atari Flashback 9 Gold include the highly anticipated, and long awaited for SD card slot, giving the home console gamer?s the same opportunity as the Atari Flashback Portable gamer?s to play additional games that they have on an SD card.
This years Atari Flashback 9 console includes 110 built in games, five more than the Atari Flashback 8, including classic hits from Atari, Activision, Konami, and Taito. Building on the Flashback 8 Gold model, the Flashback 9 includes 720p HDMI output, and as in previous models, two wired joysticks. Our first impressions of the new graphical interface and menus is positive. The interface has a clean look to it, and has a little more polished appearance than its predecessors. Another change to the Flashback 9 is the new Micro USB power adapter and cable, which are both included with the console. Gamer?s can also enjoy the save/load/rewind features.
Some of the timeless classics included in the Atari Flashback 9 are Centipede, Pitfall!, Space Invaders, Asteroids, Frogger, River Raid, Millipede, Missile Command, and Jungle Hunt.
