OpenCart

A more advanced than the WP plugins solution, with hundreds of ready-to-use integrations payment systems, deliverers, etc. It enables you to create multiple e-shop instances and has some basic functions useful when building B2B solutions. OpenCart has an active community that creates thousands of templates and add-ons. OC powers over 340.000 e-stores.

VirtueMart

Market share of this software package is shrinking but still is very popular. The solution powers several percent of all e-commerce sites, according to Alexa Top 1 Million . At the same time, it?s in top 3 softwares, when it comes to migrations to other platforms. VirtueMart is compatible with Joomla 2.5 and Joomla 3.

PrestaShop

A popular software, especially in Europe, already powering over 250 thousand e-stores. Just like it predecessors, it has been created in PHP. What differentiates it, is the ability to handle digital products. The software has already been translated into 65 languages. We have made a few implementations using PrestaShop, with no significant problems. It?s the second most popular software companies choose when changing the platform.

Magento Open Source

At present, Magento is the most popular e-commerce software ? powering over 25% of e-stores, according to Alexa Top 1 Million. The open source version of the Magento software resembles an Enterprise solution. Its flexible architecture makes it possible to build advanced e-commerce applications. Magento is the product of choice for a number of large companies and the platform is very often an alternative to high-end corporate solutions. Especially now, when Magento was named a leader in Gartner Magic Quadrant for Digital Commerce.

SpreeCommerce

This is the first popular e-commerce platform in RoR, gaining quickly on popularity, as a starting platform, for smaller shops. At this moment about 45.000 clients is using spree, with some famous brands amongst them ? like a Bonobos and Casper.

SimpleCart

An interesting solution based on JS, which makes it possible to operate smoothly even on the busiest sites. It?s an interesting alternative wherever you need to start an e-shop quickly, allowing you to expect big increase in traffic. Quoting its authors: ?No databases, no programming, no headaches. A simple javascript shopping cart that you can set up in minutes.?

Thelia

An e-commerce framework based on PHP ? Symfony (Smarty or Twig). Beyond its responsiveness, it is fully integrated in html 5 and microdata are used to give more semantic meaning to content and data. Finally, to make integration and maintenance easier, a css preprocessor is used to generate the sylesheet with less or sas. 9.000 of shops have already chosen this software.

Sylius

Also based on Symfony framework. Test-friendly, suitable for Agile development, shipped with BDD workflow and tools. This very promising project is developing organically. It already has more than 3 m downloads.

Ofbiz

It?s an all-inclusive type software offering the following functions: ERP, CRM, E-Business / E-Commerce, SCM (Supply Chain Management), MRP (Manufacturing Resource Planning), MMS/EAM (Maintenance Management System/Enterprise Asset Management), and POS. HotWax commerce is advanced version of Apache OFBiz platform, delivering a rich user interface and design

Broadleaf

A solution based on Java and Spring Framework technology, it clearly bets on scalability as a competitive differentiator. Serving Fortune 1000, Fortune 500, and IR Top 500 companies, similarly to Magento, it has an Enterprise version offering the producer support.

Konakart

Another solution based on Java on our list. Like Broadleaf, it emphasises scalability. Also, you can purchase the Enterprise version. A few well known brands use this solution.

PimCore

It?s a dynamically evolving digital platform based on PHP. We see huge potential in combining CMS, PIM, DAM and eCommerce functions together. This could be an Ideal connection for Fashion brands and for B2B Manufacturers.

Shopware

Last year we saw growing Shopware exposition on the global market. They originated in Germany but I saw this brand in The Netherland, in The UK and even in India. For me, this looks similarly to Magento, which is rather a compliment for Shopware. They also have an opensource and commercial license and growing network of partners (about 1200 partners).

OroCommerce

OroCommerce is designed primarily as a B2B eCommerce platform. This flexible solution combines functions of CRM and eCommerce. Doing so you can leverage CRM capabilities for Sales & Marketing benefits like managing sales pipelines, building detailed marketing segments, and gaining a 360-degree view of the customer.

Reaction Commerce

Reaction Commerce is a fast, scalable, real-time reactive, and open source Node.js commerce platform. It plays nicely with npm and Docker, and is based entirely on HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Probably it is the newest technological stack presented on this blogpost.

Abantecart

Easy to use PHP+MySQL shopping cart software. The storefront and admin are designed to be responsive.

Spryker

Spryker is a commercial product but the source code is open to the public (?Open Code?). Developers can retrieve the source code on Github and evaluate the framework. Spryker and its prior versions are used in 100+ international successful e-commerce projects.

Saleor

Storefront eCommerce Platform is written in Python. They use Django, PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch, GraphQL and Docker.

Shopsys Framework

Shopsys Framework is a scalable PHP framework for fast-growing ecommerce sites created and maintained by in-house developers or outsourcing companies.

Vue Storefront

This is ?1 Open Source PWA for eCommerce. It?s an Open Source eCommerce Frontend that you can easily connect with any platform.
