It?s a trap!
An infamous trap-maker knows of the Shroudbreaker ? but will she turn out to be friend or foe?
Tall Tales are story-based voyages in the Sea of Thieves that you can experience with your crew in the game?s shared world. They tell a narrative and involve solving puzzles, using unique mechanics, and overcoming perils.
The Art of the Trickster is the sixth part of the Shores of Gold saga. To start from the beginning, check out our guide to The Shroudbreaker.
This guide walks through the Art of the Trickster Tall Tale, detailing what to expect at each step, as well as where to find those pesky hidden Journals. This guide may contain spoilers, so read at your own risk.
Rewards for Art of the Trickster

Completing The Art of the Trickster
Starting Location: The book where you can vote to begin this tale is on the eastern beach of Plunder Valley next to Salty the Parrot.
Chapter 1: The Quest Book points you to a cave containing the first puzzle. When you figure this puzzle out, you receive a ?Rum Bottle Spyglass? in your Quest Wheel, and more pages for the Quest Book.
Chapter 2: Using the special Spyglass and the clues on the new pages, you will need to figure out where to use this spyglass, and then what to look at with it. This will lead to more pages for the Quest Book, which contain another puzzle the same as this one, which leads to doing the puzzle a third time. Completion of this gives a Quest Item, a (large) key which you are told to take to Sailor?s Bounty.
Chapter 3: On Sailor?s Bounty you?ll need to take the key down into the caves where ?The Trapmaker? lives up to her name. Warning: the key is destructible, so be careful with it. At the end of the cave, you can insert the key, where you?ll get a Quest Item, a Totem for opening a puzzle vault.
Chapter 4: Go to the next island indicated by the pages and use the totem as your key into a puzzle vault. When the puzzle vault is finished, you?ll get a final Quest Item, a piece of the Shroudbreaker.
Final Chapter: Deliver the Shroudbreaker piece back to Salty on Plunder Valley to complete this Tale.
When a Tall Tale is active, it places journals in the world for you to discover and read. These add details to the story, and also are required to unlock the final commendation of the Tale and earn a cosmetic reward.
I don?t recommend finding journals on your first play through of a Tale, as you may have to sail out of your way and distract from the adventure and story!
