Welcome to my blog. This is not really one of those blogs where I will be mainly talking about Asian American issues/culture, but it will be a large part of this blog because it is a large part of my identity (although I totally understand if you think this is what this is about, since there?s a giant Korean American flag right above).

Hello, I?m Jane Kye, aka sunBaenim. You may be wondering, ?What does ?sunbaenim? mean??. It is a Korean term used to address someone who is older than you in the work force or in an education system. This does not mean a good 10 years older than you, but someone who is maybe 2?7 years older than you. They are older, but not quite out of your age range.

I quickly noticed that within the word ?sunbaenim? is the word ?bae?, a popular social media acronym for before anyone else. Thus, I thought the mixture of a generic Korean term and an American vernacular acronym was something I really identified with. Then I thought about what other ways can cultures (racial, economical, professional) meet and what happens when they do. Hence, came forth the birth of this blog.

I am really excited to start this new journey and to share it with you all.
