What is download speed?
Your download speed is a standardized measure of data that you can get from the Internet in a given second. In other words, how fast you can pull information from the server. The download speed is almost always higher than the upload speed by design because the average person spends more time downloading information than uploading it. The download speed is measured in megabits per second (Mbps) and determines the speed at which your browser can render web pages, how fast you can download files, and the quality of video streaming.
What is upload speed?
As you can probably guess, upload speed is the speed at which you send data from others or to a specific site. When you are sending large files over email or during a live video stream, the upload speed is relevant. As we mentioned, it is possible for a company or individual to require a higher upload speed after uploading.
?Symmetric? Internet means that download and upload speeds are the same. Both speeds are better tested when they are symmetric, but this is a rare configuration.
Good upload and download speed
It is easy to assume that we are getting what we promised but what is good internet speed and how fast is the need for things like Netflix?
The Internet is a complex place and deals with many different broadband options in and out of there, it is difficult to know if you are getting what you paid for. Here we explain what are good upload and download speeds.
Before we explain whether you are speed, what they should be, you need to find out what they are. This requires running a benchmark speed test. You can easily do this by going to speedtest.net and clicking on ?Beginner Test?.
Be sure to test your connection more than once and at different times of the day before going to the trouble of contacting your provider. Learn more about testing your broadband speed and connection.

There are many ways to see it. First of all you should check whether you are getting the speed advertised by your broadband provider or Internet service provider.
For example, if you are going to give a broadband package a download speed of 100Mbps, then if you are getting a speed of 10Mbps then you will be quite upset.
Remember that the advertised speed is peak speed so you probably won?t reach that figure. However, you should expect to get a good amount of it most of the time ? IPS can reduce speed in busy times to get customers a stable connection.
When you run a speed test on the site above, the results will include a grade so that you can know if your speed is good or not. For example, if you get 70 percent then only 30 percent of connections are better for you.
