Veet vs Nair

Removing unwanted hair from various parts of the body is something that both men and women have been practicing for decades.

While there are many ways to get rid of hair, hair removal creams such as Veet and Nair have been extremely popular because they?re cheap and convenient.

But which one is better?

Because hair removal differs depending on the body part and your skin type, I?ve decided to answer that question in 7 specific categories.

Best Hair Removal Brand For Different Categories:

  1. Best for Bikini Area

Best hair removal cream for Bikini Area

Bikini waxing is painful and shaving can cause nicks and bumps. That?s why many prefer depilatory creams for removing hair in the bikini area. While Veet and Nair both produce bikini hair removal creams, Veet is the more preferable brand because of its gentler formulation.

Nair?s Bikini Cream has a more sensitive formula compared to their other products. It does contain green tea for nourishment, but we find that it?s still a pretty strong cream especially for those who have a sensitive bikini area.

On the other hand, all Veet products have a milder formulation compared to Nair. As such, many of their products such as the Botanic Inspirations and Facial Hair Removal Cream can be used to remove hair in the bikini area.

But to be on the safe side, you can use their bikini area-specific product, which is the Veet BodyCurv Bikini and Underarms Hair Removal Cream.

An important note though is that depilatory creams are not meant to be used on the genital area, regardless of brand.

2. Best for Legs

Best hair removal cream for the legs

In the Nair vs. Veet debate, the strong formulation of Nair does have an advantage ? it removes hair fast. So for the legs, Nair is the better brand.

While Nair has a wide range of products you can use for the legs, such as the Nair Hair Remover Lotion, Nair Shower Power, and the Nair Hair Remover Glides Away Cream, they also have a product that?s specifically for the legs, which is the Nair Hair Remover Leg Mask.

The leg mask is made of natural clay and seaweed, and must not be left on your legs for more than 10 minutes. It?s great for coarse hair, too, which is something that Veet falls short in.

If you do have sensitive skin on your legs, however, you may opt for Veet products such as their Veet Legs and Body Gel Cream or the shower variant. These come with the spatula applicator and remover, so you have everything you need with the package.

3. Best for Facial Hair

Best hair removal cream for facial hair

Both brands have hair remover creams for facial use. These have a mild formula as well because the skin our face is thinner than the rest of our body.

Nair?s Hair Remover Face Cream is meant to be used on the upper lip, cheek, and chin. To smoothen and moisturize the skin, Nair has infused sweet almond oil in the face cream. When applied, it should be left on the face for about 5 minutes and wiped off with a damp cloth.

Veet, on the other hand, has a Facial Hair Removal Cream Kit which includes the hair removal cream itself and the finishing cream. The spatula applicator and remover are also in there, so everything you need is already in the box.

The removal cream and finishing cream can be used on the cheeks, chin, and upper lip area. For added moisture, Veet?s formula has Aloe Vera and Vitamin E. We found that these help with the odor as well because depilatory creams can smell strong and unpleasant at times.

In the end, we tip our hats to Veet because their product comes with a finishing cream and spatula applicator aside from the hair removal cream itself. Aloe Vera and Vitamin E are great added ingredients as well, because their soothing properties help fight redness and irritation.

4. Best for Sensitive Skin

Veet?s gentler formulation makes it the better option for those with sensitive skin. The company uses potassium hydroxide and thioglycolic acid, both milder ingredients compared to Nair?s formula. It?s also noticeable how Nair has a thicker smell compared to Veet, which supports the fact of its stronger formulation.

Although hair removal using Veet can take longer than Nair, Veet is still the ideal choice if you are prone to skin allergies or skin irritation. Naturally, hair would take more time to break down if you use a milder product, but the entire process still only takes about ten minutes.

Most Veet products also contain Aloe Vera and Vitamin E, which further prevent redness and reactions.

That said, Nair still tries to compensate for their strong formula by adding in some soothing ingredients as well. Many Nair products have cocoa butter, sweet almond oil, and green tea.

5. Best for Men

Best hair removal cream for men

Veet and Nair have both developed their own products for men. Men tend to have coarse hair on the chest and back area, and this is what both brands target with their for-men hair removal creams.

Nair has its Nair Men Hair Remover Body Cream and Veet has its own Veet Men Hair Removal Cream for the chest and body. These are pretty similar products, but Nair?s may not be suitable for more sensitive areas like the nipples.

Then again, if you have generally coarse hair on the back and chest and you want to remove them quickly, both Nair and Veet will get the job done. But because of the strong formula of Nair, it proves to be more effective in removing coarser hair.

6. Best Wax Strips

Best wax strips

Besides hair removal creams, Veet and Nair have other hair removal products as well, including wax strips. Waxing is another popular method of removing hair, particularly because it pulls hair from the roots and thus keeps it from growing back faster.

The Ready-to-use Wax Strip Kit by Veet has GelWax Technology which leaves skin moisturized while removing 95% of hair on the first try. And like their hair removal creams, these wax strips have nourishing ingredients like Aloe Vera, Shea Butter, and Acai Berry for soft and moisturized skin.

Also, Veet has included Perfect Finish Wipes in the box to help you clean up the wax residue after using the strips.

On the other hand, Nair?s Wax Ready-Strips are also ready-to-use and can be used immediately with no heating required. It effectively pulls hair out and it feels smooth as well, but we find that the label doesn?t really tell us about any moisturizing ingredients on the wax.

The Veet and Nair line of wax strips are also quite different. While Veet offers variants for normal, sensitive, and dry skin, Nair has ?Face & Bikini? and ?Legs & Body? wax strips. Additionally, they have the Nair Wax Bikini Pro Kit, which is a strip-less wax product.

Overall, Veet wins this round because of its additional soothing ingredients and variants for different skin types.

7. Best Hair Trimmer

Best hair trimmer

To complete the set, Veet also has its very own hair trimmer. The Sensitive Touch Electric Trimmer can be used on any body part, but it?s great for the face, eyebrows, underarms, and the bikini line as well.

It basically combines an eyebrow trimmer, bikini-line trimmer, and an upper-lip trimmer all in one tool. The box also comes with different accessories that you can use. There?s a precision head, bikini head, and a comb for convenience.

Unfortunately, Nair doesn?t have a hair trimmer in its line of products, so that makes Veet the winner in this round by default.

Conclusion

Veet and Nair are two popular and trusted brands when it comes to hair removal. Both have been proven effective and they also have a wide variety of products to choose from, but picking out the right one still depends on your needs and your skin.

Veet is the best choice for those who have more sensitive skin. The formula that Veet uses is much gentler compared to Nair, making their hair removal creams ideal for those who are prone to skin irritation. The only drawback of this is that it takes longer for hair to break down, and you might need more than one application to get all the hair off.

Nair is a good option if you don?t have sensitive skin and you want to remove hair fast. Its strong formula makes it great for coarse hair and it only takes about 3?5 minutes for it to break the hair down. So if you like better results over packaging and fragrance, Nair is the better choice.
