Vanilla VS. Vanilla Bean VS. French Vanilla

Vanilla VS. Vanilla Bean VS. French Vanilla

Ice cream is one of the world?s greatest pleasures (or if you’re lactose intolerant one of the world?s biggest tease). Ice cream comes in many different forms and flavors. We have creamy ice cream, popsicles, snow cones, sherbet, and many more. In addition, there are so many different ice cream flavors like vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, mint chocolate chip, cookie dough, and so many more.

It can be hard to choose what flavor you want to have sometimes and what the best flavors are. Especially when they throw in a curve ball and make multiple variations of one flavor. This is a really big problem when it comes to vanilla ice cream. Throughout my ice cream eating career ( yes career!), I have encountered three different vanilla ice cream flavors: vanilla, vanilla bean, and french vanilla.

The most basic of three is vanilla. Which I believe is the most boring flavor because it is the most simple. It is made form vanilla extract as opposed to the actual vanilla bean, so it doesn’t have as intense of a vanilla flavor.

The next basic one is French Vanilla. French vanilla tastes fairly similar but it has a yellow hue to it. This is because the base of the ice cream is made from egg yolks unlike regular vanilla ice cream. Hmmmmm good ole extra protein from your ice cream.

Finally, the best flavor: vanilla bean! This is the best flavor because it has the most REAL vanilla flavor. In comparison, it has a thicker and creamier taste, which anyone can agree is always better. Vanilla bean to vanilla or french vanilla is like a McDonald?s burger to a burger made by Bobby Flay, himself.

I wrote about this because me and my girlfriend got in an argument about the difference. Let me know what vanilla flavor is your favorite and if you agree with my evaluations!
