Illustrators of every level have the potential to build a rewarding and sustainable career in editorial illustration.

An editorial illustrator typically creates illustrations for magazines and newspapers, which are printed on a weekly or monthly basis. This translates to consistent and varied work for professional illustrators.

While there are tried and true patterns of becoming a successful editorial illustrator there is not just one guaranteed step-by-step guide to success.

We are hosting a live online workshop on becoming an editorial illustrator. This workshop will offer you live behind the scenes discussions with three successful editorial illustrators. You will get an inside look at how they built their careers, and learn the success patterns that sustain their editorial illustration careers today.

Meet our Experts ?

Vernica Grech is a freelance professional illustrator living and working in the northwest coast of Spain. Her artwork is inspired by all types of mid-century illustration and the nostalgia of white and black old photography. She loves ancient and archaic art and she is fascinated by the era of the archeology and the first explorers.

Veronica enjoys creating strange and fun characters, poetic portraits and colourful urban scenes and landscapes. Her illustrations have appeared in a range of international media outlets including The Boston Globe, Washington Post, New York Observer, Family Circle Magazine and Ebony magazine.

Doug Chayka is a freelance illustrator currently based in Berlin, Germany. His clients include The Nation, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Atlantic, The Boston Globe, and many others. He began freelancing in the late ?90?s and landed his first editorial assignments at the Kansas City Star while also working on picture book projects.

Doug taught illustration full-time at Ringling College of Design (2009?10) and Savannah College of Art and Design (2010?12), and on an adjunct basis at Pratt Institute, City College of New York, Rochester Institute of Technology, and The Illustration Academy.

Beth Walrond is a Freelance Illustrator, working full-time on illustrations for magazines, publishers and advertising. Originally from the UK, Beth is now based in Berlin, Germany. Her work has been featured in dozens of major media outlets including The International New York Times, The Guardian, The Wall Street Journal, The Telegraph, Wired and HOW Magazine.
