Today, the Cyber FastTrack initiative has launched as part of the Governors Cyber Skills Program. Cyber FastTrack is a free and unique three-stage program that will provide an unprecedented opportunity for college students in the US to fast track their career in cybersecurity!

College students who excel in the Cyber FastTrack program will be eligible to win a share of $2.5 million in scholarships for advanced cybersecurity training and be given introductions to employers in the field.

The program, which kicks off in April 2019 and is open to 26 states, will provide students with everything they need to build their knowledge in the foundations of cybersecurity. Students can work through the stages online alongside their current college course.

To be eligible to take part, students must:

  • Have access to a computer and the Internet.
  • Be 18 or older on April 5, 2019.
  • Have been registered as a student at a regionally accredited community college, 4-year college, or graduate school in the past 24 months in one of the following states: Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wyoming.

The first stage of the program, CyberStart Assess, opens on April 5, 2019. This initial level involves a set of increasingly tricky challenges representing realistic threat scenarios that will measure participants existing knowledge, problem-solving skills, and potential for a career in cybersecurity.

Students can trial the types of challenges they will face by visiting go.cyber-fasttrack.org.

Students are encouraged to register their interest in the program here. Once they do, they?ll be notified when CyberStart Assess opens and sent any other exciting updates!
