If you google ?How to record audio with Quicktime screen recording? most of the answers reference a process where you download Soundflower to pass in the computer audio to Quicktime. This works great, but takes some setup.

Most don?t know that for a quick and dirty recording, Quicktime can record audio from your computer mic. This will capture the ambient audio, as well as the computer audio, albeit at much less quality and with a tiny delay. But for a quick video this can work great.

Steps:

  1. Open Quicktime
  2. Select New Screen recording
  3. Click the little white dropdown to select the internal microphone.
  4. Click record

If you want perfect audio from the computer, you have to install and configure Soundflower.

How to record both screen and sound with Quicktime on El Capitan?

I’m trying to record both what’s happening on screen and the audio being played by the applications. To my surprise?
