Could Turning Off The WiFi Bring You Better Sleep and Calmer Days?

I kept telling my husband to turn off the WiFi- the wireless energy that powered it was driving me nuts ? and I really did not like getting close to it. I?m electromagnetic hypersensitive(EHS) so shutting off WiFi was a no-brainer for me. I can physically feel it when it?s on. In fact, I honestly wake from sleep if someone in my fam(no names) comes home in the middle of the night and turns WiFi on. So when my clever man came home with this really simple ?remote appliance switch? our lives changed. Point. Click. Ahhhhh.
My family was seriously tired of hearing, ?just because everyone else can?t feel it, it doesn?t mean it?s not there.? But now, California is recommending that everyone take a bit of precaution ? in 2017, the CDHP said wireless energy could cause health effects.
The wireless energy we?re talking about here is called RF radiation or non-ionizing radiation. It is the same type of EMF that comes from cell phones, smart meters, laptops, baby monitors, tablets, and computers.
And more and more we?re learning that the less of it we?re exposed to, is likely for the better. And this goes for all of us. Not just those with EHS.
The way I look at it, this energy is just one more toxin or ?allergen? that taxes my body?s energy. That?s why I think it?s best not to be exposed to it when you don?t have to be.
I?m not alone here; the wagons are beginning to circle. Late last year, one of the largest European Telecom providers put a warning in the manual for their router that said because of the ?Radio Signals? ? the router should be placed away from bedrooms, living areas and children?s rooms. The European countries are way ahead of us when it comes to wireless safety, it seems. Some countries have stopped installing WiFi in schools, out of concern for students.
If right now you?re thinking this all seems a bit too cautious and you?re wondering? Can WiFi really make people sick?
The answer is yes, it can. Will it always make people sick? No. Dr. George Carlo my friend, partner and respected public health researcher, says that there is most definitely a biological response to Information Carrying Radio Waves. When you?re exposed to ICRW, a process of adaptation and compensation occurs. Everyone reacts differently: Some people feel nothing at all ? which doesn?t mean they aren?t being affected ? and others get sick. Dr. Carlo tells me that it depends on your body?s unique ability to adapt.
Here?s Why You Should Turn Off Your WiFi
At Tech Wellness, we have been surveying the research on this subject for over ten years and we see the same sorts of symptoms reported. In one particular survey, (1) which looked at reactions to smart meter radiation (If you have a smart meter, you might want to read this.) Here are some of the 14 symptoms reported:
- Trouble Sleeping
- Headaches
- Anxiety
- Ringing in the ears
- Racing Heart
- Tingling Sensations
- Numbness
- Dizziness
- Fatigue

If you want to dig deeper, you can read our everything-you-need-to-know super-helpful guide to living well with this energy, no matter what you call it: EMF, EMR Electrosmog, Radio Frequency waves and/or RF radiation.
The guide features studies linking wireless energy to:
- Infertility
- Memory issues
- Depression
- Decreased Hormone Levels
- Heart Problems
Meanwhile, Here?s How To Turn Off The WiFi
And the good news is ? it?s not that difficult:
- Hard Wire the Internet The truth is that giving up WiFi is the best option. Though this may take some re-wiring and effort, you can protect you and your family at home by using Ethernet cables that hard-wire in. Bonus: they also provide faster and more reliable internet connection AND you can use the same tools to hardwire your smartphone(trust me, it?s amazing to scroll, text and insta at home with a wired up phone.)
- Know where to put the WiFi. Placement is key Distance is important when it comes to WiFi safety. Our story and video show how. The distance a WiFi signal travels is dependent upon the signal strength of the router so power matters too.
- Turn Off WiFi Before Bed or in My Case-whenever I CAN! You can use a switch or a timer. At my house we fondly refer to it as our WiFi Kill switch The video paints a wildly clear picture of why you don?t want to actually jump in and touch the WiFi if you don?t have to. Viola remote switch to the rescue! The simple step of hitting the off switch can lead at the very least, to a better night?s sleep. This timer is also an excellent option for auto- off. Kill that nasty WiFi energy any time of day or night on a schedule of your choice.T
- Turn WiFi off on your devices: RF radiation is emitted anytime WiFi is enabled. So, when we?re not using them, stop the laptop, smartphone and computer from searching for WiFi signal by toggling off those sources of energy looking for energy(called the handshake) .
The point I want to leave you with is simple: There?s no need to be afraid of this stuff. All you have to do is be aware and take some simple steps to limit your exposure when you can.
Be Well !!
