ABOUT Juice WRLD
Jarad Anthony Higgins (December 2, 1998 ? December 8, 2019), popularly known as Juice WRLD, was an American rapper from Calumet Park, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. Juice was first signed to Internet Money Records then subsequently signed to Interscope in March 2018. His main and closest producers were Nick Mira and Sidepce.
In an interview with Mass Appeal, Juice WRLD explained how he came up with his stage name:
I had the haircut, like the ?Juice? cut Tupac had in the movie. I took it as trying to take over the world, and it being my world.
The rapper first gained major popularity from his 2017-released track ?All Girls Are The Same,? which gained even more recognition when popular director Cole Bennett made a music video for it. He?s often compared to Post Malone for his similar sounding voice and style.
Juice had said on an interview with No Jumper that his favorite artist is Chief Keef and his favorite album is Kanye West?s 808s & Heartbreak.
His debut studio album, Goodbye & Good Riddance was released in May 2018, featuring productions from Mira, benny blanco, Cashmere Cat, Cardo, Taz Taylor along with others. It was supported by five singles, garnering his biggest Billboard Hot 100 hit ?Lucid Dreams?, as also ?Lean wit Me?, ?Wasted? featuring Lil Uzi Vert, and ?Armed and Dangerous?.
Juice?s second studio album, Death Race for Love, saw its daylight in March 2019, which became his first project to top the Billboard 200 chart, selling 165,000 equivalent album units by the first week. It featured two singles only, including ?Robbery? along with the music video dropping on Valentine?s Day and a tropical-vibed ?Hear Me Calling?.
On December 8, 2019, Higgins suffered a seizure at Midway International Airport in Chicago. He was pronounced dead shortly after. He was set to release his highly-anticipated third studio album the same month, supported by its lead single, ?Bandit? with YoungBoy Never Broke Again.
Over a month after his tragic death, the rapper?s posthumous vocals have found their place on ?Godzilla? from Music to Be Murdered By, an album by Juice?s lifelong idol, Eminem. A month later, Juice was featured alongside his second-time collaborator Lil Uzi Vert and first-time collaborator Chance the Rapper on his multiple-time collaborator G Herbo?s album title track, ?PTSD.? The next month, Juice appeared on YNW Melly?s ?Suicidal? remix. The following month, Juice?s label dropped two singles ? ?Righteous? and ?No Me Ame?, the latter of which was alongside frequent collaborator Rvssian and new collaborator Anuel AA. The next month, Juice?s vocals were featured on Polo G?s track ?Flex.? His label followed up later that month with his Trippie Redd-assisted track, ?Tell Me U Luv Me.?
Early in July 2020, Juice?s label began hinting at his posthumous album, and dropped two more promotional singles within a span of two days, respectively titled ?Life?s a Mess? ? which featured Halsey ? and the Marshmello-assisted track ?Come & Go.?
All of these posthumous tracks found their place on Juice?s 21-track album, Legends Never Die, which was released on July 10th, 2020, over 7 months after his passing. The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, selling nearly 500,000 album-equivalent units in its first week.
Just under 3 weeks after the drop of Legends Never Die, Juice?s long-time dream of collaborating with R&B singer The Weeknd came true when they released ?Smile? on August 7th, 2020.
Juice WRLD ? All Girls Are the Same Lyrics
[Intro]Mhm, they?re rotting my brain, loveThese hoes are the same
[Verse 1]I admit it, another ho got me finishedBroke my heart, oh, no, you didn?tFuck sippin?, I?ma down a whole bottleHard liquor, hard truth, can?t swallowNeed a bartender, put me out my sorrowWake up the next day in the Monte CarloWith a new woman, tell me she from ColoradoAnd she love women, she?ll be gone by tomorrowWho am I kiddin??All this jealousy and agony that I sit inI?m a jealous boy, really feel like John LennonI just want real love, guess it?s been a minutePissed off from the way that I don?t fit in (I don?t fit in)Tell me, what?s the secret to love? I don?t get itFeel like I be runnin? a race I?m not winnin?Ran into the devil today and she grinnin?
[Pre-Chorus]Hey, these girls are insane, yeah, uh
[Chorus]All girls are the same, they?re rotting my brain, loveThink I need a change before I go insane, loveAll girls are the same, they?re rotting my brain, loveThink I need a change before I go insane, love
[Verse 2]Ten minutes, she told me it would take ten minutesTo break my heart, oh, no, she didn?tFuck livin?, I?ma drown in my sorrowFuck givin?, I?ma take, not borrowAnd I?m still sinnin?, I?m still losin? my mindI know I been trippin?, I?m still wastin? my timeAll the time given, am I dyin?? Am I livin??It?s fuck feelings, my sorrow go up to the ceilin?
[Pre-Chorus]Ah
[Chorus]Now I am insane, demons in my brain, lovePeace I can?t attain ?cause all these girls the same, loveNow I am insane, demons in my brain, lovePeace I can?t attain ?cause all these girls the same, love
Goodbye & Good Riddance is Juice WRLD?s debut album, released on May 23rd, 2018 through his label, Interscope Records. It features 15 tracks and is available for streaming on SoundCloud, Apple Music, Spotify, and Tidal.
On July 13, 2018, the album was reissued on streaming services to include ?Wasted,? which features Lil Uzi Vert, as the fifth song.
The album was reissued once more on Spotify and Tidal on December 10, 2018 to now include Juice?s single, ?Armed and Dangerous,? as the fifth song. The album?s skits were moved to the end of the album.
The album is supported by three singles, ?All Girls Are the Same,? ?Lucid Dreams? and ?Lean Wit Me.?
Goodbye & Good Riddance explores Juice WRLD?s current relationship and the struggles he endures. The subject matter of the album varies throughout the tracklist, from discussion of past love interests in songs like ?All Girls Are the Same? and ?Lucid Dreams,? to details of his overpowering drug addiction in songs like ?Lean Wit Me? and ?Black & White.?
The album also touches upon feelings of invincibility and delusion in songs like ?Hurt Me,? where his frequent abuse of opioids and other drugs has driven him to recklessness.
Two of the album?s singles, ?All Girls Are the Same? and ?Lucid Dreams,? have found large success for Juice. Both songs have entered the Billboard Hot 100, debuting at 92 and 74 respectively, and amassing a combined 66 million streams on his SoundCloud. The success of ?Lucid Dreams? is explained best by the Genius article ?Chart Climber: Tracking The Rise Of Juice WRLD?s ?Lucid Dreams??:
?Lucid Dreams? dropped on SoundCloud way back on July 1, 2017 as part of Juice WRLD?s JuiceWRLD 9 9 9 EP, but it wasn?t added to Genius until December 9. It received some attention thanks to burgeoning popularity on SoundCloud at the time, but didn?t gain significant traction until February 26, 2018, the day after the ?All Girls Are the Same? video came out.
That song?s explosive online success (to the tune of 14 million YouTube views and counting) was a rising tide that lifted all boats, and throughout March ?Lucid Dreams? averaged over 2,200 page views per day.
When asked if he expected ?All Girls? to blow up in an interview with Pigeons & Planes, Juice responded:
It was no different and I didn?t expect for it to do what it did. I wrote it. I usually freestyle but I wrote the first verse to that one and freestyled the second. I look at my music like, ?I make this, I like this, it?s going to do what it does. Whatever that is.?
In a May 22nd interview with Zane Lowe?s World on Beats 1, Juice WRLD said:
Man, my project is dropping. It?s called Goodbye & Good Riddance. I?m confident about it, I think it?s going to do well, I put my all into it.
