How to pair Roku to IR remote control

Roku players come with two types of remote controls. There is the standard IR (or infrared) remote control and there is the improved type of ?point anywhere? by Roko. For the first type, follow the steps below to pair your Roku remote control for the first time:

Connect your Roku device to your TV and to a power outlet.

Insert the batteries into your Roku remote. Depending on your model, you may need AA or AAA batteries.

Press any button on the remote control. When you do this, the remote control will automatically be paired with the Roku device. Since you are using an infrared remote control, it must be in the line of sight of the Roku device so that they can detect each other.

How to sync Roku Remote without pairing button

If your remote control does not have a pairing button, that means it is the standard IR remote control. Here are ways to synchronize your remote if you seem to have problems:

Remove obstructions. Your standard Roku IR remote control will only work if it points directly to your player. To synchronize correctly, remove objects that may be blocking the signal from the remote control to the transmission device.

Reset the remote batteries. Often, synchronization will not work if the batteries are not placed correctly in their compartment. Simply remove them and replace them. Point the remote control at the transmission device and check if the remedy has worked.

Replace the batteries. If removing blockages or resetting the batteries did not work, it may be time to replace the batteries. Get new ones, place them in the battery compartment, point the remote control towards the player and check if it starts to sync.
