Jay Leno is a celebrity that is most prominently known for his extensive car collection and his enthusiasm for collector vehicles, but he certainly isn?t the only celebrity car collector! Tim Allen has been collecting cars for a long time, and loved everything about them as a child. Many of the vehicles in his extensive collection have been modified to his personal specifications and design. Over the course of the TV show Home Improvement, in which Tim Allen starred, a 1933 Ford Roadster was actually restored from the frame up and now resides in Tim Allen?s personal collection. Other vehicles that Allen is known for are his 1996 Chevrolet Impala SS LT5, 1946 Ford Convertible, a 1986 Ford RS200, and a 1965 Shelby Cobra.
This photo doesn?t quite show the full extent of Allen?s collection, but it does show just what a wide variety of vehicles Tim Allen collects! The most noticeable car in this picture is the black 1965 Shelby Cobra, which is just one of many stars of his collection. Everything Allen has is unique and holds its own place in his collection.
The 1996 Impala SS was an instant classic, and has already started to achieve collector car status. Naturally, Tim Allen had to have one! But as is the case with many of his vehicles, he had to add his own personal touches. This Impala was built with a DOHC Corvette ZR1 LT5 engine, making 446 horsepower and 448 ft-lbs of torque! This is nearly a 200 horsepower increase over the factory spec 260 horsepower. This is another vehicle that Tim Allen is particularly fond of and is frequently seen with.
The car pictured above is the 1933 Ford Roadster that was built from the ground up on Home Improvement. Tim Allen has a strong bond with this car after building it on the show. The engine is a Chevrolet 350 and is just one of many custom touches on this Ford.
This beautiful red convertible is Allen?s 1946 Ford. This is another car that was featured on Home Improvement being fixed up. The engine is a 292 cubic inch Motor City Flathead producing 225 horsepower hooked up to a Ford C4 transmission. This car sits on Heidt?s independent front suspension.
Unsurprisingly, car guys spend their time with other car guys. Pictured here are Tim Allen and Jay Leno standing beside Tim Allen?s 1968 Chevrolet Camaro 427 COPO. COPO stands for ?Central Office Production Order? and was Chevrolet?s system for special high-performance vehicle orders in the 1960s. In 2013, GQ took an in-depth look at Tim Allen?s collection and that footage can be found here on YouTube. Tim Allen may be a great actor, but he is also a great car enthusiast!
