Are you a Japanese language learner, who wants to understand ?animes? or ?mangas?? Perhaps a university student, studying in Japan? Or a businessman, wanting to expand your business in theLand of the Rising Sun? Well, whatever your reason is, we all have one thing in common: to learn the exotic and challenging language used in Japan, Nihongo (???).

With that being said, I have listed the 5 best websites to learn the Japanese language online.

  1. JapanesePod101

Image for postThis is the Study page for members, very well organized and user friendly.

JapanesePod101 has proven itself to be one of the best in this field. It?s a one-stop shop for learning Japanese. They have a wide range of lessons for students having a beginner level to advanced. This site offers a 7-day free trial, but don?t get discouraged by the prices they offer (it?s really worth it!). And if you?re really into free stuffs, here?s a bonus! They have a podcast on iTunes which you can get for free! Click here. I, myself, am very thankful to this site since it was one of the first site/podcast I have used to study Japanese.

2. NHK World

Aside from being a TV and radio station, NHK also offers a Japanese learning program. They have a lot of free materials from PDFs to audio files! But what really keeps people from using this site is their ?manga/audio book?. It follows the story of Anna, an international student from Thailand. With her adventures, you can easily learn how to use the lesson topics in a more natural way. They even have quizzes and grammar lesson for those who wants to be challenged. Oh and the lessons are offered in 17 languages.

3. Tae Kim?s Complete Guide To Japanese

Image for postSimple yet complete!

This site is definitely a gift from the heavens (well, in this case, from Tae Kim). The site may look very simple but it lives up to its title. They have a complete guide to learn Japanese, may it be online or their own book. The explanation of the Japanese grammar in this is really comprehensive yet straightforward. I have personally learned the grammar section of this site using the iOS app they have. I would really recommend downloading it.

4. CosCom

Image for postNow that?s a website to consider as a start up page for your browser!

How would I start with this one? I would definitely say that this site is the most complete of all. This is not online for someone who wants to learn the Japanese language, but also for those who wants to embrace Japan itself. They cover all the aspects in learning Japanese, from vocabulary to conversational phrases. The site even offers news articles about Japan and weather. They even have an instruction on how to type in Japanese without a Japanese keyboard. I wish I could have known this site 10 years ago. I could have learned more about the Japanese language and things about Japan even before I came here.
