Renting a car when you?re underage generally takes a massive dent out of your wallet. Luckily for you it no longer will if you follow the 3 steps below!

1. Sign up for a Free Membership with USAA
Signing up is free and you do not need to be affiliated with the military. With a USAA membership drivers who are 18 to 24, typically saves $25 to $30 per day.
Now technically you are supposed to show proof of your USAA membership when picking up the vehicle, but only some places ask. They generally ask for your ?USAA Card? which refers to the USAA debit card. Instead, I just show them a printed card of my account info. Which has worked every time for me.
2. Print out a USAA Card
Go to your USAA online homepage, then take a screenshot of this view and print it off. I used card stock and laminated it so it doesn?t get too damaged in my wallet, but that is optional. Then cut out the section that has the green box around it and you got yourself a USAA Card! I also recommend printing out your profile view (which is found under the yellow arrow on the right) on a piece of paper, just in case.
3. Book an ultra cheap rental car with these 5 tips for finding the cheapest rental cars:
Shop different locations for rental cars.
I?ve seen an airport with $50 a day cars with a location 2 miles away with ones for $15 a day
Don?t rent from airports, if possible.
It is generally more expensive with airport fees and high demand
Use free pickup services, if possible.
Have Hertz HLE or Enterprise pick you up a couple blocks away from an airport (they wont pick you up from an airport) or just Uber there
Try not to rent one way,
It always ends up being at least 3x as more expensive
Book for a week, if possible.
Booking a week generally lowers the price to an even lower rate than having 4?5 daily rates.
