You may want to rethink that resolution to spend less time on the couch in 2017 after checking out the HBO NOW lineup for January.
New original programming includes the limited drama series The Young Pope, starring Jude Law as the first American Pope in history, as well as the new documentaries Beware the Slenderman, which tells the true story of two girls who lured their best friend into the woods, stabbed her 19 times and confessed they did it to appease a tall and faceless man known online as Slenderman, and Becoming Warren Buffett, which tells the improbable story of how an ambitious, numbers-obsessed boy from Nebraska became one of the richest, most-respected men in the world. Returning programming includes the new season of Sesame Street and the 2017 premiere of Real Time with Bill Maher.
New theatrical highlights include The Boss, Demolition, Now You See Me 2 and the horror hit The Visit, which joins HBO NOW alongside several of M. Night Shyamalan?s other greatest hits (Lady in the Water, The Happening, The Sixth Sense, The Village and Unbreakable) ahead of the theatrical release of Shyamalan?s Split later in January. Baby Mama also joins the already streaming Sisters for a Tina Fey/Amy Poehler double feature opportunity, with Risky Business, The Big Lebowski and My Cousin Vinny also joining ahead of the latter film?s 25th anniversary in March.
Departing movies include The Martian, The Intern, Spy and all five Dirty Harry flicks: Dirty Harry, Magnum Force, The Enforcer, Sudden Impact and The Dead Pool.
