FIFA 20 Career Mode? Press Conferences
FIFA 20?s career mode hasn?t quite been overhauled but nevertheless features some substantial changes. Some of the biggest are its new press conferences, you would pick from some light trash-talking options from a basic text box (if you noticed the press conference at all). These are represented by a selection of highly-detailed cutscenes and require you to answer a variety of questions.
The answers you give can have a big effect on player morale, which is a key component of Career Mode this year.
FIFA 20 Career Mode ? Manager Customization
The first indication that things are a bit different in FIFA 20 is that you can actually customize your manager. This means you can get creative when making your manager, including the ability to equip them with various vanity items.
It?s a welcome upgrade from previous years, which saw you offered the choice between fewer than 10 template managers ? men in either shirts, suits or tracksuits ranging from their mid-30s to their 70s.
This customization creates a positive impression of Career Mode. It feels fresh and different. For a while at least.
Importantly, this also means you can create female managers for the first time. There are lots of different presets to help you generate your character, and there are also in-depth options surrounding body and face morphing.
Once you?re through the manager customization stage, the familiar flow of FIFA?s career mode starts to take hold.
FIFA 20 Career Mode ? Dynamic Player Potential
One of the heavily-requested improvements for FIFA 20 Career Mode is the way players develop through each season was to have their potential change based on their performance.
Control your players? potential OVR with Dynamic Player Potential ? the better they play on the pitch, the higher their potential will grow.
So with the added bonus of extreme morale fluctuation this year, player growth potential could be very different per career mode that is played, as different decisions within the season will alter how far a player will rise or fall.
FIFA 20 Career Mode? Player Morale and Chat
Player Morale in FIFA 20?s Career Mode makes for a more challenging managerial campaign than last year. The new Player Chat system allows you to converse with players regularly, as well as hear their demands.
You?ll need to pay attention to these, as angering your players can eventually lead to the sack. Player Morale also affects how well your squad performs on the pitch, having an effect on player attributes.
A player?s morale will be influenced by factors such as: playing time, wage demands, performance and how well the team is doing.
FIFA 20 Career Mode ? General improvements/additions
New Negotiation Environments
Our interactive negotiation scenes are the introduction of two new environments, Rooftop Lounge, and Restaurant that is now part of our line-up of scenes used for player negotiations.
Spot Fixes and Balancing Changes
? Added an option in the Player Actions pop-up to add a player to the shortlist and immediately go to the Transfer Hub with the respective player. Redesigned Team Management layout to allow for easier player attribute comparison.
? Added an option to disable International Management job offers at the start of a new career.
? Increased the initial Composure attribute values for generated youth players and redistributed weights for player growth between physical, mental and skill attributes to allow for more physical growth.
? Improved distribution of ethnicity within a country when generating youth players.
? Significantly increased the initial amounts for wage budget allocation. Increased the player value of defensive players based on the latest transfer market activity.
? Fixed multiple issues with leagues that split into play-offs after the end of the regular season.
? Improved the algorithm used by AI teams to determine their starting XI. Re-adjusted the number of saves to 8, inside Career Mode.
Competition Changes
? Fixed multiple fixture congestion issues.
? Added the new format and schedule of the Spanish Supercup.
? Added support to round down the points in leagues that split into play-offs and halve the points.
? Updated usage of the 4th substitute in extra time to all competitions that support this new law of the game.
FIFA 20 Career Mode ? Verdict
Career Mode hasn?t broken new ground as promised, but, what they mostly constitute is a large step in the right direction, particularly when it comes to player interaction and dynamic storytelling. They serve to make FIFA 20?s career mode feel a little deeper, a little more alive, and most important of all, a little less stale.
